How to take care of your Balzac Paris knitwear?

At Balzac Paris, we want to write together a world where the desirable is durable and the durable desirable. Our knits are made in quality materials and workshops so that they can be loved and worn as long as possible , but also be passed on to your friends, your children, your sisters, or be deposited on our second-hand platform.

The durability of our meshes also depends on the maintenance you do with them. Sweatshirts, knits in wool or cotton, discover here all our tips for taking care of them :

WOOL KNITS

Avoid water

What do your sweater and a cat have in common? Beyond sweetness, both don't like water! It is therefore necessary to avoid as much as possible washing or soaking your woolen knits in water in order to avoid deformations. The solution ? Ventilate them! You can hang them for a few hours on a chair or a wire outside. This will be enough to get rid of the odors.

Wash them by hand

If it is really necessary to wash them, do it inside out, by hand and cold (20°C maximum). Avoid thermal shocks by keeping the same temperature when washing and rinsing. Remember to use a special wool detergent to avoid the enzymes contained in conventional detergents.

Dry them gently

For drying, we forget the dryer ! Lay your mesh flat on a towel, avoiding direct sunlight. Be careful not to hang your knit on a hanger, it will relax under its weight.

Store them folded

No hanger in your closet either: we recommend that you carefully fold your knits in your dressing room to avoid deformations.

Remove the plugs

Even if our knits are of very good quality, it is natural that pilling sometimes appears . If so, we recommend removing them from time to time with a pilling razor.

COTTON KNITS

Wash them gently in the washing machine

You can wash your cotton knits in the washing machine on a Delicate program to limit the mechanical action that can degrade them prematurely. In a TPR (Always More Responsible) approach, we recommend that you wash your knits at low temperature and on an Eco programme: the majority of the energy consumed by your machine is used to heat the water and not to run the motor!

Iron them if necessary

If necessary, you can do a delicate ironing to help them regain their shape after going through the washing machine.

Store them folded

Do not put them on a hanger in your closet: we recommend that you carefully fold your stitches in your dressing room.

Anti-deformation tip

If ever some parts relax over time, don't hesitate to steam them lightly (without the iron touching the mesh) to bring them back to their original shape.

SWEATSHIRTS

Wash them gently in the washing machine

You can machine wash your sweatshirts on a Delicates program to limit the mechanical action that can damage them prematurely. In a TPR (Always More Responsible) approach, we recommend that you wash your sweatshirts at low temperature and on an Eco programme: the majority of the energy consumed by your machine is used to heat the water and not to run the motor. !

Wash them inside out

Your sweatshirts should be washed inside out to avoid fading, scuffing of prints and pilling that may occur from rubbing against other garments in the machine.

Dry them gently

For drying, we forget the dryer ! Lay your sweatshirt flat on a towel, avoiding direct sunlight, or lay flat on your clothes airer. Be careful not to hang your sweatshirt on a hanger , it will relax under its weight.

Store them folded

Don't put them on a hanger in your closet either: we recommend that you carefully fold your sweatshirts in your dressing room.

Sweatshirts always shrink a little

It is possible that despite all your precautions, your sweatshirt may shrink slightly during its first wash . This is normal and will stabilize thereafter.
